Dave's Newest Passion....

With the Race for Josie being held at the Wasatch County Event Center (fondly known as the "Pony Palace") Dave decided that now would be a perfect time to start racing for sport instead of just goofing off on the track as it was being built. Needless to say once he raced for real he was hooked! Now he can be found racing 2 nights a month and practicing for another during the winter. Sadly, I think that I might just be replaced if he keeps this up! :(

With the okay from Dave's superior, his car was parked in front with the lights going to represent the Law Enforcement.
Dave and Mark
Here he is getting ready to race in the Law Enforcement vs. Fire Fighters Race! "I did okay, at least I didn't crash or come in last place."
Law Enforcement were the winners this time! From the UHP Ben Cox, Sgt. Chris Dunn, Cpt. Allen Workman and Dave. Wasatch County Search and Rescue, and other agencies throughout the state.

I think he knew...

I think Dave knew it was going to be one of those days at home today so he purposely left his phone at home. Drat, drat, drat how am I supposed to tell him how lovely all of HIS CHILDREN are being today. Now your probably wondering what they could possibly done already this morning, well I will fill you in.

This morning started out like every other morning, JT bouncing into my room at 7 just to jump and then crawl into bed with me. I proceed to get up and wake up Addison trying not to wake up Payslei in the process. (That was a definite no go) Waking Addie up was splendid but trying to get her dressed, her hair done, and fed was another story. After much arguing she was up, dressed, and eating. While she was eating I was trying to print out a letter to have her teacher send home with all her classmates for their parents. I've tried for 2 days unsuccessful only to find out that no my printer isn't broken at all the kids have just taken all of the ink out of it. (I totally need to find it!) Addie finally finished eating and when I proceeded to do her hair I noticed that a section of it had been cut. CUT, I tell you! I calmly asked her who cut her hair and how it happened. (Gotta love a toddler who not only cuts her hair but her sisters as well) I sadly thought that we had passed this phase in life. I digressed and put her hair in a headband. Next Addie showed me that she had a nasty sliver on her thumb so I tell her that I would get it out; sadly she thought she already had. It was a quick and painless procedure at least for me it was. You would've thought that child was losing an arm the way she carried on. "No school for me today! I am hurt and tired." She crawled into bed and would not come out. After what I thought was ample time I calmly went into her room and told her that it was now time to go to school, she was already an hour late. She did not think so but I won the battle and walked her to school crying, pouting and all. By the time we hit the first corner she was fine, at least I thought. The minute we walk into the school and I hung up her backpack the flood gates open again. I got those ones stopped and was told to walk her down to the lunchroom to get her eyes tested and then bring her back to class. She thought the eye test was splendid, going back to class not so much. UGH!!! More tears flow, we walk to the drinking fountain get a drink and then walk into class. Her classmates ask her whats wrong with her face. (It's all blotchy from crying) I tell her that she will be fine and Neleah is sweet enough to take care of her sad friend. As I leave Addie hops up and gives me a hug. I hope when she's a teenage its not that bad!

Now your probably wondering where JT and Payslei are, well they are at home watching Super Why. At least that is what I thought. As I walk in the door there they are eating ice cream with a measuring cup and measuring spoon on the front room floor. Payslei has gotten herself dressed and is all wet and crying because JT wont share. In the air the is a minty fresh aroma, that is never a good sign when your toddler is obsessed with the toothpaste. I quickly swoop up the ice cream and put it back in the outside freezer and survey the damages.
  • Toothpaste on couch
  • Toothpaste on child
  • Toothpaste on curtains
  • Toothpaste on computer
  • Toothpaste on computer chair
  • Toothpaste on floor
  • Toothpaste on kitten (who she also tried to bathe to no avail)
  • No toothpaste tube
  • Pork bone and scraps all over the kitchen floor (saved from the night before for the dogs)

Needless to say my children are now bathed, the kitten has been dried and is sleeping in my lap, and the children are in their rooms trying to figure out why it is only 10 and they have found themselves there.

At times like this I wish there was someone to give my resignation letter too.

CaLiFOrNia

This summer we were able to go to two Family Reunions. Here are pictures from our visit to California for Dave's Family Reunion. It was a great event where we were all able to catch up with family. A few of the highlights were the reunion, Dave bike riding with his dad, visiting grandpas and friends, and swimming.

The kiddos absolutely loved "learning to swim" and not "drowned" in grandpa and grandma's pool. Payslei really loved swimming at Uncle Keith's in the kiddie pool.

We absolutely love going to visit our Great Grandpa's in Dana Point. This year was definitely memorable with a trip to the baby beach close by as well as getting to walk down on the pier where the little boats were docked. I'm sure the kids will be learning to sail as soon as possible.

I just thought that this was a wonderful picture of Grandpa Joe and wanted to share it!

Family Reunion at Paradise Pond 2009

Let me let you in on a little secret known to us a Paradise Pond. (shhhh, it's a secret!) Every year a wonderful extend family gets together to celebrate nothing more than being a family. To say that it is our favorite place to go would be an understatement. I am happy that many memories have already been created and will yet to be created there.
Here are a few of the many interesting things about Paradise Pond and the activities that ensue. Our family is very musically inclined, many of nights you can find us singing (harmony no less), and playing the guitar; this year we were blessed to hear a song written just for Julia and her move to AZ. Dough boys are a definite must and are always served with honey butter. The lake is by far the favorite place to relax; infact this year JT swam across the whole thing! (He's amazing!) Bridge jumping is another huge event to partake in every year, after all its only a 20-25 foot drop depending on the water level. Shooting guns on the property, as well as playing cards, using beads to create figures, volleyball, and eating amazing food are all pastimes. It is truly a peaceful place to be.
This year we were blessed to be able to participate in the local St. Anthony Parade, where my grandparents were the Grand Marshal's. There is always something nostalgic about a small town parade. It was even more memorable this year with almost the whole extend family sitting and dancing on two trailers while throwing candy. Grandma wore a pioneer outfit while Grandpa wore his cowboy hat. (grandma was swooning, just like when she was younger) If your wondering about the awesome hats my sisters and I had on they were in honor of my Grandma who wears these all the time.
The only unfortunate thing that happened was missing the rodeo, which I was looking forward to!(I was talking about it for weeks in advance!) Saturday night, the night of the rodeo, a huge micro burst hit right before we were to go and kicked up a ton of dust. I mean it picked up and blew air mattresses down the road as well as floating toys, tent rain flys, and anything else that wasn't heavy enough. So, we made the decision to not go where all the dust was. :(

It was a truly wonderful and memorable time. So Thank You everyone for making this year so wonderful.

Because I'm in a gypsy/ boho mood lately....

I happened across Priscilla Ahn's music today and found myself lost and hypnotised. I was immeadiately engulfed in her music and wanted to be dancing in a field of wild flowers or snuggled up with a good book and a cup of milo. Even better is that she will be here, anyone want to go?

Thank you Jandee!!!

To say that I have already decorated around these photos would be telling the truth!!! Yes the whole layout of my room is based upon where I am putting these pictures on my walls. Was I dreaming up this layout before getting the pix?! You bet! I am so excited!

So, needless to say if you are looking for an amazing photographer in Utah go here! Thank you once again Jandee for taking amazing pictures!!!

Dear Summertime...

Please come here soon!!! The kids and I are going stir crazy not being able to play outside and bask in your warmth!! The boy is breaking everything in sight trying to convince himself that playing ball in the house is a grand idea. The poor wooden floors can't take the bicycles being ridden on them any longer. We need our space! We need to eat Popsicles and play in the sprinklers!

Please come really soon!

Love, The kids and their mom

Have you ever felt like this?! I know that this is an unfortunate situation that we find ourselves in. Mother Nature doesn't seem to want to cooperate with us.

For the Love of Toothpaste.....

I am sad to have to report that not one but 3 tubes of toothpaste have gone the way of the local landfill. Tragically their purpose was ended ubruptly by a toddler.

Payslei has an obsession with brushing her teeth and decorating with toothpaste. This is what she managed to accomplish in a brief moment today. Mind you it was a brand new tube bought the day before. Maybe she'll become a dentist. Also I think in runs in the family to prove my point check this out!

So, my dearest Du decided told me last night that she posted pix of their new house and I should go check it out. Little did I know what I would find there....
So here goes the tag just for you!

3. When I make a wish on a star I say the appropriate saying and then turn around in a circle and blow a kiss (yep I'm a dork)
4. Nails must always been well groomed, just ask my mom, kids, sisters I hate when babies nails aren't kept let alone my siblings.

Dave's sister took pictures last time they were out here and I couldn't wait any longer, (she finally got some posted on her website just the other day go check them out.) so, my dear sweet cousin Jandee took some for me and I am excited!!!

Needless to say, my kids are definitely in LOVE with their "Auntie Jandee" and had a blast hanging out with her at the castle!

Last time I checked....

Being a mom of 3 adorable munchkins always makes me check my sanity at the door, or at least question my knowledge. Hence, here are a few examples. (just remember to place last time I checked in front)

1. Summer is over, one should not be wearing a swimming suit and asking to go swimming in the kiddie pool! (Any guesses on who?! JT, I can not get him out of his swim shorts or for him to put on a shirt)
2. Nap times are IMPORTANT!!!!! (tell that to all 3)
3. Microwaves were not built for children. (example: frozen french toast sticks placed and burned by 3 for a snack!)
4. Children love clean rooms, so why is my furniture moved in the front room and colored drawings everywhere?!
5. Busy streets were not to be played in!!!
6. Hugs and kisses don't always make things better.
7. Mommy is in charge!
8. Toothpaste is not to be ate! (GROSS!!!)

Okay well last time I checked they were Angels in disguise but they have been quiet a bit to long! :)

kindergarten!!!

It's official we are now the proud parents of an Elementary School Student! As many of you know Gina could hardly wait for this day to come, and as it approached disbelief began to set in. Addison meet with her teacher the Wednesday before school was to start for the Kindergartners and played shy until her mom moved to a different table, then she became the social little butterfly that we all know and love. At one point she wouldn't tell her teacher when her birthday was, what her phone number is, or what her address is. Finally after some coaching she told her teacher that her birthday was October 8th. (WHAT?! We all know she knows when it is!) Needless to say she warmed up to her teacher right away and was excited to be able to bring back her "homework" on the first day. (So excited that she forgot to put it in the basket so we had to go back before the next class started to put it in) Lil' JT is having a hard time with Addie not being there to play with but loves to go and pick her up so that he can play on the playground.

Here are some interesting things that have happened so far...

1. A new friend named Kaden, (she impressed him with her mad skills on the fireman pole)

2. Her first Scholastic Book Order form

3. Sleep Deprivation

4. New school jeans (they are way to big but we needed the length)

5. New pink backpack (Daddy picked this one out)

6. New folder and notebook (wasn't necessary but, Daddy chose the backpack)

7. Mommy not only waking up earlier than usual but having to get breakfast made

8. Walking to School and Home everyday (I'm not looking forward to the trek in the snow)

Pix of the first day....
